Getting The Medical Practice From Zero To Winning

Getting The Medical Practice From Zero To Winning

~ How a GP solved his three-year long hunt ~

Dr Banny was stuck. The principal administrator at the Eduardstrete Medical Centre had been looking for nearly three years for a doctor to join the Kingaroy practice. Once a buzzing practice with three doctors, a nurse and practice manager, Dr Banny had been overwhelmed and over-worked for a year after the husband-wife team he worked with left to Victoria.

The lack of doctors was affecting Dr Banny’s ability to service patients properly. He was losing patients, simply because there weren’t enough doctors to see them. He was frustrated because traditional recruitment agencies wasn’t able to help him either, with candidates falling through for one reason or another.

Dr Banny found HealthcareLink and signed up to the On-Demand Program, a special support service where HealthcareLink sources candidates who meet the employer’s criteria and is ready-to-work in the immediate term. HealthcareLink was able to find Dr Shah, an International Medical Graduate who registered with the online career marketplace.

Dr Tahir Shah was an international medical graduate who had experience working in Australian hospitals as a medical registrar, and wanted to move into general practice. His registration with AHPRA had location restrictions as to which areas he could work in, and Dr Shah had professional and financial goals he wanted to meet.

HealthcareLink’s support consultant, Rashmi Rao, played matchmaker, persuading Dr Shah to consider the Kingaroy practice, which was further than what he had initially hoped for. Few months on, and both Dr Shah and Dr Banny are re-building the practice to what it used to be. Dr Shah found a mentor for his fellowship in Dr Banny and an engaged and active community to be part of in Kingaroy.

Dr Banny praised HealthcareLink’s level of professionalism “I am signed up with over a dozen different agencies and have found them to be non-communicative. HealthcareLink is different. The team is pro-active and keeps in touch. The support team made an effort to understand my criteria for a hiring new doctor into my centre and did their best to secure the right person.”

“They found Dr Tahir Shah, who is an excellent doctor and a very hard-working and diligent person. HealthcareLink is efficient and I will happily use their On-Demand services again.”

Dr Shah speaks of his experience as a candidate “The staff at HealthcareLink are very helpful and easy to talk to. Other agencies weren’t able to find the right type of job for me in the right location. HealthcareLink’s support staff were open in their communication with me, understood what I needed from a role and found exactly that. I’d be happy to recommend them to my colleagues and friends, they are a positive company to work with.”
