How can upskilling in skin cancer diagnosis and treatment help you to minimise your outward referrals? Professor David Wilkinson gives some practical advice in this short video!

While referring to specialists is absolutely appropriate in certain circumstances, we want to limit outward referrals where possible. Outward referrals delay diagnosis and treatment for the patient and can be an additional, unwelcome cost for them.

There are also issues with patients not presenting at their specialist appointment. Referrals can complicate the treatment program and you don't always receive a report back from the specialist.

Upskilling is a way that you can avoid these issues and ensure you provide the full care for your patients where appropriate.
