RACGP Accepted Chronic Care Funding Commitment

RACGP Accepted Chronic Care Funding Commitment

Published By HealthcareLink , 4 years ago

The RACGP has commended a bipartisan pledge from the major parties to lessen the prevalence of persistent diseases.

The assurance of a new chronic care funding scheme is aiming to improve the health results of elderly patients over 70 and those with an incurable condition.

Dr. Harry Nespolon, RACGP President said 87% of Australians over the age of 65 have at least 1 chronic health condition whilst 50% of the population has at least one of 8 common chronic illnesses.

Revamping medicine and helping complicated care are 2 of the primary goals on the list of RACGP’s 2019 Federal Election.

Under the new scheme, elderly patients over 70 years of age will be able to enroll voluntarily with their GP who will be accountable for the handling of their healthcare, said Dr. Nespolon

Earlier this May, the Coalition and Labor stated their visions for Australian healthcare at a National Press Club debate which concentrated on mental health and preventive care.

$3.5 billion has been released by the Greens for a healthcare platform for treating patients with chronic disease and preventive medicine.
