As reported in the Australian Ageing Agenda’s Community Care Review, Silver Chain, an Australian aged care and community health organisation is set use mixed reality technology to bring remote health consultations to clients.

It’s the first time that ‘holoportation’ has been used in this context, where healthcare professionals can appear in real-time as holograms projected via Microsoft HoloLens, a holographic computer that is worn as a headset.

Other industries, apart from healthcare and medicine, that are exploring the potential for holograms include a wide array of sectors from manufacturing to the air force, education, engineering as well as architecture and design.
