A report in the Western Magazine features Dr. Joseph Murphy who intends to practice in a rural community on completing a 12-month advance training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Having had his childhood years near village Bribbaree, New South Wales, Dr. Murphy wants to do this in the spirit of giving back.

According to him, ” I am interested in living rurally in the future and working as a health professional to give back to rural Australia. I find it a lot easier to relate to rural patients, especially farmers, having grown up in a property myself”.

Dr. Murphy identified undersized health workforce in local communities as a critical issue. He expressed his passion for halting the menace and ensuring that rural women receive quality Obstetric care. It is hoped that this act will inspire rural kids to resolutely pursue their dreams unhindered by their rural background.
