130401 - Acute medical emergencies in the GP setting - Chest pain
- : Online
An education event recorded for online viewing, to provide an update for GP’s on the clinical features, symptoms and causes of chest pain, utilisation of risk assessment tools to identify when to refer to emergency department, and identification of common ECG patterns representing acute coronary syndromes.
Relevance to General PracticeChest pain is a common presentation in general practices and emergency departments, with primary care data estimating that 1–4% of chest pain presentations to general practitioners (GPs) are secondary to the effects of Acute Coronary Syndromes. It is imperative that primary care physicians have a diagnostic framework for assessing chest pain, understand the high risk clinical features for cardiac causes of chest pain, and can rapidly escalate care when required. This educational activity aims to provide an update for GP’s on the clinical features, symptoms and causes of chest pain, utilisation of risk assessment tools to identify when to refer to emergency department, and identification of common ECG patterns representing acute coronary syndromes.
