140523 - Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) Online Training Module for Health Professionals

  • : Online

This RACGP category 2 accredited activity will provide GPs with an understanding of continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) in the management of children and young people living with type 1 diabetes and how to access the necessary supplies and support from the National Diabetes Services Scheme (NDSS).

Relevance to General Practice

While most people with type 1 diabetes have a multi-disciplinary specialist health professional team who may be familiar with CGM, general practitioners play a vital role in ensuring continuity and coordination of care. The role of a GP in CGM initiation and use includes identifying patients who may benefit from CGM, referring patients to the appropriate diabetes specialist, supporting patients in the ongoing use of the CGM.

To date there has been limited information available for GPs and other primary health care professionals about CGM. This module is designed to fill a gap in education and information for GPs to support GPs to be able to integrate with their patient’s CGM confidently and competently.
