The prevalence of atopic dermatitis (eczema) in Australia and New Zealand is 15- 20% and continues to rise. GPs are the first point of care.
There is often a mismatch between severity of symptoms and presentation, and healthcare professionals can underestimate the burden of disease. Poor adherence and the use of unproven complementary therapies are common and greatly impact outcomes in atopic dermatitis.
Our needs assessment survey identified that the most challenging issues GPs faced in managing patients with eczema was poor adherence and improving outcomes for patients who are inadequately controlled with topical therapies. Moreover, healthcare professionals report they find it challenging to educate patients about the chronic nature of their disease. This webinar works through a challenging case, providing clear guidance around management and patient education.
