Areas identified in the needs assessment that GPs felt were the main concerns and relevant to general practice were rhinitis, asthma, food allergy, drug allergy, occupational allergy, anaphylaxis, venom allergy, and paediatric aspects including paediatric food allergy. They also identified an additional focus on immunotherapy for aeroallergy and venom anaphylaxis which were added to the content

  • Diagnose and manage common presentations of airway allergy including allergic rhinitis, asthma, and thunderstorm asthma.
  • Review acute management of life-threatening anaphylaxis, and follow-up management including for venom anaphylaxis.
  • Develop a framework for diagnosing and managing the spectrum of food allergy presentations including IgE and non-IgE mediated reactions
  • Develop a framework for categorizing and managing allergic drug reactions, including those suitable for avoidance, desensitization and delabelling
