Learning objective

At the conclusion of this course, candidates will be able to:

  • Modify ultrasound system controls to attain basic practical proficiency in image optimisation
     
  • Compare techniques and clinical applications of ultrasound guided regional anaesthesia procedures to improve success rates and reduce the risk of complications
     
  • Describe the basic nerve blocks techniques and demonstrate basic practical proficiency for the following peripheral nerve blocks:
    • the brachial plexus (including supraclavicular, infraclavicular, interscalene and axillary approaches)
    • sciatic
    • femoral
    • transversus abdominus plane
