104087 - Ultrasound in Phlebology
This 3 day program is specifically designed for any medical practitioners or technologists at the beginning of the ultrasound learning curve who are interested in venous scanning. All tuition is undertaken in a highly personalised, tailored fashion with intensive "hands-on" practical sessions allowing registrants to gain skills in the most cost effective manner. For practitioners who aim to be accredited by the Australian Society for Ultrasound in Medical Practice (ASUM), this workshop covers the following Certificate of Clinical Performed Ultrasound (CCPU) units: physics and vascular access.
Relevance to General PracticeUltrasound machine is an excellent non-invasive diagnostic tool to assess soft tissue, particularly to vessels from lower and upper limb and trunk. Patients presenting with venous (deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and chronicle venous incompetency can be comprehensively assessed and monitored through duplex ultrasound (DUS), which consists of a combination of two-dimensional ultrasound and spectral Doppler examination. In clinical practice, DUS can used to identify incompetent veins to determinate whether or not an incompetent varicose vein is responsible for the patient’s complain. In summary, this course is relevant for practitioners who aim to expand their prior experience in ultrasound to identify venous illnesses only.
