This audit aims to support Australian GPs in a systematic approach to improve access to specialist respiratory services for COPD patients diagnosed with moderate to severe disease severity.

Relevance to General Practice

COPD represents an important public health challenge nationally, affecting approximately 10.8% of Australians. However, COPD disease prevalence and severity can often be underestimated. 
This audit aims to support Australian GPs in a systematic approach to improve access to specialist respiratory services for COPD patients diagnosed with moderate to severe disease severity. 
Simplifying the pathway to specialist services increases patient safety and care of both existing and future COPD patients.
