109389 - Practical tools for osteoarthritis management - National Case Study

  • : Online

This interactive online case study is designed to assist GPs to update their knowledge and support best practice in relation to the non-pharmacological management of knee osteoarthritis, with a focus on weight loss and exercises.

The 1-hour module incorporates questions relating to a clinical scenario, with immediate feedback reflecting best practice, expert commentaries and assessment questions.

Relevance to General Practice

Osteoarthritis of the knee may be a common condition for many of your patients. But pain and loss of function is not inevitable. This interactive case study will explore how non-pharmacological management, particularly weight loss and exercise, can help with pain and mobility – and can often prevent or slow disease progression before irreversible joint damage occurs.

It will present and review knowledge and best practice for:

• Patient assessment
• Patient education and self-management
• Individualised management plan
• Weight loss management
• Exercises for the affected knee joint
• Follow up review and adherence

Learning outcomes
