In this module, delegates will hear from academics, medical practitioners, industry representatives, and opinion leaders with unique insights and views on the priorities for tackling obesity in Australia. Topical, insightful, and sometimes controversial questions generate discussion and identify the measures the AMA should focus on in its efforts to advocate for action on obesity.Relevance to General Practice
Tackling obesity in Australia is a national and economic priority, and the response to it must be commensurate with the breadth of its prevalence, the speed of its growth, and the impacts on individuals and society.
Combating obesity requires a coordinated and strategic whole-of-society approach. This will include significant roles for governments, non-government and community organisations, the health and food industries, the media, employers, schools, parents and many others.
