  • : Online
Relevance to General Practice

GPs are increasingly identifying chronic myeloid leukaemia and chronic lymphocytic leukaemia abnormalities from FBC evaluation, with an increased detection of these conditions in primary care. Enhanced treatment options have improved quality of life for conditions previously requiring cytotoxic chemotherapy or stem cell transplantation. GPs remain at the forefront of recognising signs and symptoms, performing initial tests and facilitating referral to the local haematologist.
