122402 - Emergency Ultrasound Skills Update [EUSU] - 2 Day Course

An ultrasound ‘bootcamp’ for the point of care ultrasound user. 

Designed to consolidate your ultrasound skills, this 2 day course focuses on hands-on practical sessions. The program consists of over 12 hours of guided, practical scanning to review, refresh and revitalise your POCUS skills. 

Scan sessions with live patient models include eFAST, AAA. Echo, procedural guidance, abdominal, lung and DVT. 

Relevance to General Practice

As the use of ultrasound becomes more widely used across a range of applications, it becomes increasingly important that POCUS users possess the clinical knowledge, technical skills and critical decision making abilities to exploit the full potential of this technology. 

The benefits of GP performed ultrasound are well documented and can be particularly advantageous to the clinician working in in an emergency setting and / or resource limited environment. 

Learning outcomes
  • Document a minimum imaging series to facilitate appropriate diagnosis and clinical management
  • Demonstrate basic practical proficiency in performing and interpreting the following ultrasound examinations: 1. eFAST & AAA 2. ECHO 3. Vascular access
  • Recognise the limitations of focused ultrasound assessment of the following: 1. eFAST 2. AAA 3. Vascular access 4. ECHO
