122832 - Eliminating Hepatitis C: What you need to know
- : Online
Accredited Active Learning Module - on-line education program to help enable GPS in treating the typical HCV patient and to engage with specialist services where appropriate. As part of the education, GPs will also conduct an evidence-based review of their patients to put their learnings into practice and optimise management of patients with HCV.
Hepatitis C virus (HCV) is considered to be a chronic infection when present for more than 6 months. Chronic HCV affects approximately 200,000 individuals in Australia, commonly causing chronic liver disease, which in some cases leads to death, but in many cases can lead to cirrhosis, decompensated disease or liver cancer. Increased treatment uptake is necessary to effect these substantial reductions in HCV prevalence and HCV-related mortality in Australia.Learning outcomes
