124620 - IVFAustralia Reproductive Medicine Education 2018 - GP Seminar (Cat2, 4pts)

  • : Online

IVFAustralia's 2018 evening dinner seminar will educate GPs on the following two key areas: 1. Do Gynaecological Conditions always cause infertility? - To identify the gynaecological conditions that can affect a woman’s fertility, demonstrating how to diagnose these conditions and implement management strategies 2. Genetics in General Practice 2018 - To outline the latest technologies available for patients to identify genetic conditions that can affect fertility and health of patients and how this technology can help clinicians improve patient outcomes.

Relevance to General Practice

It is currently estimated that one in six couples experience difficulty conceiving. for about one in five of infertile couples the problem lies solely with the male. The rising birth rate coupled with the rise in maternal age means more and more couples and women will seek assistance to conceive. The ability to recognise, diagnose and treat the issues in reproductive medicine are therefore of enormous significance in general practice as a GP is the primary carer.

Learning outcomes
  • 1. Investigate, diagnose and correctly manage the gynaecological conditions that impact fertility
  • 2. Discuss and advise the latest genetic tests available and understand who is suitable
  • 3. Implement a system for assessing and referring patients having difficulty conceiving
