126642 - How to Treat quiz: Endometrial cancer
- : Online
Endometrial cancer is the most common gynaecological malignancy in Australia, and the fifth most commonly diagnosed cancer among females in 2017. After cervical cancer, it is the second most frequent worldwide of the female genital-tract cancers. The incidence is increasing due to a number of factors, including obesity, increased life expectancies and non-hysterectomy treatments for benign gynaecological conditions.
Endometrial cancer carries an excellent prognosis with high curability and survival prospects because, at the time of diagnosis, it is often confined to the uterus. However, women with advanced stage of disease and high-risk comorbidities or histology present real challenges in management.
