130397 - Therapeutics in Rheumatology

  • : Online

An education event recorded for online viewing, to provide an update for GP’s on the diagnosis and management of common rheumatological conditions and treatments, such as rheumatoid and osteoarthritis pain management, acute and chronic gout, and osteoporosis.

Relevance to General Practice

GPs are often the primary manager of diagnosis and ongoing management for a number of rheumatology conditions, including arthritis, gout, and osteoporosis, and as such need to stay up to date with diagnostic and treatment updates.

Despite the high prevalence of gout and the availability of safe and effective therapies, there remains considerable practice variation in diagnosis and management. Potential for benefit from education is also shown in the clinical areas of rheumatoid and osteoarthritis, in the management of pain for optimal quality of life, and in the area of osteoporosis, to identify appropriate patients for assessment and treatment.
This activity provides education from specialists in these clinical areas, to update GP’S on the most recent evidence and clinical guidelines for management of these conditions.
