Relevance to General Practice

GPs have a key role in diagnosing and treating people with dementia, and as such, need to be aware of the assessment and management of the disease and ways in which they can best enable their patients to access available services. A number of guidelines are available with recommendations, and there are a number of pharmacological treatments available for consideration that they also need to understand the place for. This activity aims to provide an update for GPs on types and differential diagnosis of dementia, clinical assessments, referral pathways, and pharmacological treatments for consideration.
