Relevance to General Practice

General practitioners (GPs) play an important role in eye health and vision care. GPs can treat minor eye problems, identify patients who are at-risk of eye disease and educate patients about the importance of regular eye examinations with an eye health professional. This activity provides a review of some of the commonly seen paediatric eye conditions, including an overview of normal versus delayed visual development, nasolacrimal duct obstruction, pseudostrabismus, strabismus, chalazia, abnormal red reflex, orbital cellulitis, and the myopia epidemic.
