An education event recorded for online viewing, to provide an update for GP’s on the evaluation and management of urinary incontinence and female pelvic organ prolapse.

Relevance to General Practice

Female pelvic floor dysfunction encompasses a number of prevalent clinical conditions including urinary incontinence and female pelvic organ prolapse (FPOP). The latter is the most common condition and most likely to require surgical treatment.

Primary care professionals are in a position to take a proactive approach in managing prolapse and incontinence by asking about urinary symptoms in at-risk groups during routine appointments. This activity provides an update for GPs on identifying and managing patients with prolapse and incontinence within their own practices.

Learning outcomes
  • Discuss initial conservative measures for management of incontinence in elderly patients
  • Describe treatment options for pelvic organ prolapse
