- : Online
This 1 hour on-line education session on MEHTAMPHETAMINES will cover:
• Incidence, prevalence & history
• Pharmacology, effects & complications
• Diagnosis (continuum, screening and brief intervention)
• Intoxication withdrawal management
The learning session includes reading and evaluation.
Addiction is a chronic, relapsing condition which is difficult to treat. GP’s and other primary care professionals have a key role to play in prevention, early detection and management of substance misuse and dependence.
Six separate on-line modules on the most commonly used drugs (and alcohol) have been developed to provide up to date, evidence based information in a format readily available to the target audience.
The online modules will be available by invitation only to GP’s in the Nepean Blue Mountains Primary Health Network up until end December 2018.
The Nepean Blue Mountains PHN have identified the need for GP's to better understand drug and alcohol issues in their population, including managing withdrawals and potentially becoming prescribers (which is poorly represented in their area).
