The Applied Clinical Governance Workshop will introduce participants to the concepts of clinical governance, what it means at a unit level and how to apply it as a Unit Manager/Department Manager.
It will improve participant's understanding of current clinical governance frameworks at the organisational and unit level.
It will also identify systems and tools used to support clinical governance frameworks and guide in the development of strategies and action plans to strengthen current clinical governance in the Unit.
Most highly developed industrialised nations, including Australia and New Zealand, generally enjoy good health outcomes. People want to trust health service organisations and clinicians to provide safe and high-quality health care. Sentinel events however, are still far too prevalent.
Despite national standards and accreditation processes, patient safety and quality care lapses continue to plague our health system. Improvements in healthcare need not be limited to new, expensive technology development, or process development at an organisation level. Rather, the quality of patient care can be improved by focusing on developing your clinical governance skills, as a healthcare professional working at the coalface.
