148510 - Management of Chronic Pain and Managing Narcotic Analgesics Doses.

  • : Online

"Management of Chronic Pain and Managing Narcotic Analgesics Doses" is a Category 2 Face to Face Power Point Presentation which can be offered Stand Alone (as one hour accredited educational activity for usual Lunch Hour Educational Program of a General Practices) or a component of Two-Day (mostly weekend Education Program which will be offered by Hope Mediclinic from early next year) and or even part of some other organisation's accredited training program for GPs.

Relevance to General Practice

Chronic pain is very common presenting symptom affecting one in five Australians in general population and most of these patients are managed in out-patient setting and mostly by general practitioners. Further in last couple of years use of Narcotic Analgesics has increased exponentially and death due to "Overdose of Prescribed Narcotics" is one of the MOST IMPORTANT TOPIC in LAST TWO YEARS. I, being a Geriatrician, a Specialist General Physician, an Ex-A/Professor in Medicine and post-graduate (M.D. in Pharmacology), am in better position for presentation on this critically important issue.
