Hot Topics GP Update is a series of lectures delivered by GPs for GPs on the latest medical research in General Practice. This measles audit activity can be completed by GPs that have attended the face-to-face event or watched the online videos.

Relevance to General Practice

The aim of the GP update course is to provide GPs with an overview of the latest evidence in clinical practice for General Practice and to assist them to deliver better patient care. The course content includes a summary of the evidence published in peer-reviewed journals, national guidelines and other reputable sources in the previous 12 months. This audit activity is design for GPs to apply the new knowledge gained through the education sessions by conducting a series of patient audits on particular patient groups.

Learning outcomes
  • Recognise that patients born between 1966 – 1994 may be incompletely vaccinated and at risk of measles
  • Be able to engage patients in discussion about their immunisation history and review their immunisation records
  • Identify patients for whom a catch-up dose of measles-containing vaccine is recommended and offer vaccination
  • Implement broader system changes in your practice to detect and manage incompletely vaccinated patients
