This workshop enhances the General Practitioner’s ability to diagnose, treat and manage common presentations of mental disorders in children, adolescents and youth. The workshop will provide GPs with hands on activities and evidence based information on how to tackle school refusal, identify risks, appearance issues, bullying, anxiety, depression and suicidal ideations.

The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW) states that Mental Health Disorders that emerge during the formative years of childhood can have a lasting impact on the health and well being of the individual throughout their life and also also on the lives of those around them.

  • Develop skills in recognising and assessing mental illness
  • Monitoring and reviewing progress and referral of patients to appropriate services
  • Understanding how to assess patients at risk, patients with mood disorders including personality disorders, ADHD/Autism spectrum disorders
