This is a webcast of three lectures recorded from a day conference to make the material available to rural GPs.
Relevance to General Practice
Diabetic Retinopathy is the leading cause of reduced vision in working age Australians. This lecture is designed to update and refresh GPs knowledge in order to improve prevention, screening/detection and management of this condition.
Major depression is the leading cause of disability globally and currently available treatments are only moderately effective and not always accepted by effected individuals. This treatment gap has led to interest in new therapies that may be more acceptable such as neutracueticals, including the B group vitamins. This lecture will present the evidence describing how and to what extent such nutrients might be helpful in general practice.
Rhinitis and nasal symptoms are very common. Confusion within the GP community about the anatomical classification, aetiology and hence appropriate management will be adddressed.
- Better understand how to detect and manage diabetic retinopathy
- Improve depression outcomes by appropriate use of micronutrients as adjunct to conventional antidepressant therapy
- Overcome misunderstandings regarding causes and management of allergic rhinitis
