Multidisciplinary Management of the Elderly Patient with Cancer

Relevance to General Practice

Cancer needs in the elderly include getting the right health care and follow-up treatment for ongoing quality of life. Multidisciplinary management is known to be effective for the patient, friends and caregivers. Providing evidence-based knowledge of current treatments for patients, including diet and exercise, is often done in primary care settings and exploring updates in the field is relevant to GP's. Local research to improve the survivor experience and service referral options will assist GPs to improve care.
