- : Online
Developed for Registrars, this workshop will focus on two essential paediatric topics: Developmental Milestones & Immunisation.
General practitioners use a range of methods to evaluate child development. Paediatrician Dr Ellen MacKinnon will discuss the range of assessments and resources available to assess delayed or atypical development, as well as their advantages and limitations.
In the second half of this workshop, Dr Anita Campbell from the Stan Perron Immunisation Service at PCH will examine the topic of immunisation: schedule updates and the role of the GP in addressing non-compliance.
The subject of Paediatric Health is extensive, and GPs play a vital role in the prevention, early detection and management of countless presentations. This workshop has been designed to enhance the practitioners scope in this area by addressing the topics of Developmental Milestones and Immunisation.
The rate of developmental disorders in children is higher than commonly realised. Early detection and intervention is crucial, as difficulties in the key areas of development (speech and language, motor, social-emotional and cognitive skills) can result in lasting health and learning implications.
Thousands of vaccines are given every year, and with the changes to the vaccine schedule changing frequently, keeping up-to-date on available vaccines is vital. This workshop will also discuss approaches to vaccination hesitancy.
