160849 - Shoulders and Skin - Diagnosis & management of common skin & shoulder solutions for GPs

  • : Online

Skin conditions and disorders of the shoulder are two of the most common presentations to General Practitioners. This workshop will aim to help General Practitioners make the diagnosis and formulate a management strategy for the top five disorders of the shoulder and the top five disorders of the skin.

Relevance to General Practice

Musculoskeletal injuries are the most common injury presentation to General Practice in Australia. Shoulder problems are the third most commonly presenting musculoskeletal injury after lower back and knee. An understanding of the possible diagnoses for shoulder pain is essential to the practicing clinician. We have done extensive work identifying which clinical tests are the most helpful for diagnosing shoulder problems and which are not.
Australia has one of the world’s highest rates of eczema/atopic dermatitis. Skincare management has changed for eczema and the era of biologics for sever eczema has arrive. Psoriasis affects about 3% of Caucasians and is associated with medical comorbidities which can be reduced by appropriate management of moderate to severe psoriasis with biologics.
