161068 - Understanding and responding to child sexual assault: Legal and clinical processes for the MLHD
- : Online
The presenters from the local services which respond to child sexual assault will provide GP’s with the clinical knowledge, practical skills and information necessary to identify and appropriately respond to child sexual assault (disclosed or suspected) in alignment with mandatory reporting obligations.Relevance to General Practice
Many children and families seek the support of their trusted family doctor immediately following a disclosure of abuse or when there are suspicions of abuse having occurred. GP’s are therefore in a unique position to direct child victims and their families to the correct pathways so they may access appropriate support, which will include assessing the child’s current and ongoing safety.
This session aims to increase attendee’s awareness of the local networks and services which respond to child sexual assault, and also highlight access points and referrals pathways for those who have been victims.
