This meeting is a rural GP annual cardiac update meeting which focuses on the rural management of patients presenting with Cardiovascular Disease.
This is an active learning module designed to provide general practice teams knowledge and confidence to manage patients presenting with Cardiovascular disease according to evidence based care guidelines.
The meeting will increase understanding and practitioner skills in:
- Interpretation of ECGs
- Heart failure update with case studies
- Management of patients presenting with suspected acute coronary syndrome
- Management of COPD in Primary Care
- AF Management for the Rural GP
- Country Case Presentations
- Update in Stroke Management
- Stroke Rehab
The meeting is held over two days and involves 10 hours of education. This will include 7 hours of interactive learning in the form of case studies and workshops.
The weekend is designed to provide training for the whole practice team including general practitioners.
In rural and remote South Australia, the majority of CVD presentations and chronic diseases are managed by general practitioners both in their surgery and in the local hospital. To reap the benefits of new therapies to manage CVD and chronic diseases, general practice teams need to be educated on new protocols incorporating guidelines and evidenced based therapies. The iCCnet Rural Weekend Update on Cardiovascular Management is designed to keep GPs and nurses up to date with the latest evidence-based cardiovascular care and chronic disease management including COPD, heart failure & risk factor management. The meeting will provide interactive sessions facilitated by Cardiologists and Specialists to up skill GP teams on updated technologies and protocols on managing patients presenting with cardiovascular issues and chronic diseases.Learning outcomes
