Many common rashes seen in children are caused by infections. Some viruses cause specific rashes while others cause non-specific exanthems. 
Common bacterial eruptions include impetigo, staphylococcal scalded skin syndrome, perianal streptococcal dermatitis, boils and abscesses. 
Accurate diagnosis is important to prevent inappropriate treatment and facilitate quick resolution.
