Education event to provide a framework for primary care physicians to identify growth disorders and motor delay in children, and to ensure appropriate management strategies for the patient and family are in place

Allows GPs to have framework for the assessment of growth in children, recognising the variations in normal growth and a working list of the possible differential diagnoses and management options

Learning outcomes
  • Assess a child’s growth (including the use of growth charts) and identify atypical growth patterns, with a view to creating a diagnostic approach to management
  • Identify a child with motor delay, assess potential aetiologies, identify pathways to further diagnostic evaluation & understand the appropriate referral path
  • Identify musculoskeletal impairments (including hypermobility) and other contributing factors to motor delay.
  • Assess overall development to distinguish isolated motor delay from global developmental delay.
  • Be able to utilise the pathways for management including community health, private therapists, and the NDIS early childhood early intervention (ECEI) pathway
