This workshop is based predominantly around complex hip and knee surgery. Participants will be taken through new techniques and robotic equipment that are being used by orthopaedic surgeons and the benefits and outcomes for their patients.

Relevance to General Practice

The General Practitioners located in the Western districts of Adelaide near Western Hospital, and the 14 GPs located in the hospital have indicated (at our monthly clinical meetings ) the need for education regarding Robotic surgery (benefits and procedure’s ). 
The new techniques and robotic equipment now being used by Orthopaedic Surgeons and the benefits and outcomes for their patients 

Learning about the latest techniques in Hip Arthroscopy surgery and the Direct Anterior Hip approach will provide the GP’ with the knowledge and tools to best advice and discuss options available with their patients. Appropriate pre and Post- operative management of hip and groin pain, muscle and tendon Injuries including Hamstring muscles and Achilles tendon as well as the management of Arthritis of the Back, Hip, Knee and Ankle 

This education workshop will be held in Adelaide, presented by an Orthopaedic Surgeon and a Sports and Exercise Physician specialist.

  • Discuss the latest surgical interventions for osteoarthritis for the hip and knee
  • Explain the process, risk and benefits of robotic surgery to patients
  • Describe the optimal treatment to manage hip and groin pain
