The aim of this CPD is to update General Practitioners in the latest Radiation Oncology treatment advances. This will aid the GP in the investigation, diagnosis, screening and management of patients with these conditions.
Relevance to General Practice
The 2017 Australian Institute of Health and Welfare "Cancer in Australia" report highlights the rising incidence rates of cancer in Australia. In 2017 it is estimated that the risk of an individual being diagnosed with cancer by their 85th birthday will be 1 in 2. In 2013, there were 124465 new cases of cancer diagnosed in Australia. GP's need to understand the new advances in management and treatment of cancer in order to provide the most up to date information to patients diagnosed.
