Relevance to General Practice

The use of cannabinoid therapy for management of a variety of clinical indications is rising exponentially such that there are over 5000 patients in Australia currently approved for prescribed cannabinoid therapy. Approvals are increasing with over 1500 additional approvals every month. GPs increasingly will require detailed knowledge of the available treatments. There is poor knowledge and understanding about the indications and safety of cannabinoid therapy in general practice. (Karanges EA et al, BMJ open. 2018 Jun 1;8(7):e022101.)
