This evening aims to up skill General Practitioners in their knowledge of diagnostic imaging and be able to become confident in their decisions about referring for radiology and be able to select appropriate imaging for their patients.

Relevance to General Practice

General practitioners are often the first and most common source of health care for people. GPs provide assessments, prescriptions, education, referrals and advice on self-management. Requesting diagnostic imaging is a common and sometimes challenging task in general practice. 
General Practitioners often refer patients to radiologists to have various imaging tasks undertaken so it is important that they understand which test is most appropriate for their patient.

Learning outcomes
  • On completion, the participant will be able to Identify when to request appropriate imaging investigations for patients requiring an MRI
  • On completion, the participant will have improved knowledge of the radiological findings of the common and basic conditions.
  • On completion, the participant will be able to determine which imaging modality is appropriate for their patient
