180629 - Manage Exacerbations of COPD

  • : Online

The aim of this e-learning activity is to increase GPs knowledge and skills in early identification of exacerbations and assisting patients to self-manage their condition.

Relevance to General Practice

COPD is a common chronic condition and GPs manage patients with COPD on a regular basis. 1 in 7 people aged over 40 years have COPD and half of the people experiencing symptoms currently don't have a diagnosis. Those that are diagnosed can be supported in their management of COPD including exacerbations. Exacerbations are a serious event in the course of the disease and result in lung function decline. This module provides information regarding the early identification and management of exacerbations of COPD.
