187292 - Registrar Series - An Evening Discussion on Orthopaedics
Presented by orthopaedic specialist Dr Johan Mostert, this workshop will look at neck and shoulder conditions from a primary care perspective. What causes the pain, how to properly examine your patient, who benefits from physiotherapy and does surgery really work will be the discussion points for tonight’s workshop.
Relevance to General PracticeMusculoskeletal conditions account for nearly 10% of all GP consults, and the most common of these include complaints of the neck and shoulders. Painful neck and shoulders have the potential to become chronic if not properly managed . It is therefore imperative that general practitioners are confident in performing a skilled examination, recognising red flags, and implementing a patient-centered treatment plan.
