188017 - Common musculoskeletal injuries in general practice MCQs

  • : Online

This module will assist GPs to appropriately assess, diagnose and manage common musculoskeletal injuries that present in general practice. It focuses specifically on soft tissue injuries of the knee and hip, common fractures and shoulder injuries.

Relevance to General Practice

GPs are required to identify musculoskeletal injuries, differentiate them from other possible diagnoses and select the most appropriate investigations and treatment. Management of musculoskeletal injuries by GPs is focused on diagnosis, pain management, improved functioning and health-related quality of life. Treatment may involve a combination of medication, physical therapy, self-management education and referral to specialist services. GPs need to be aware of how to appropriately manage these injuries so that patient care and recovery is optimised.
