191223 - Engaging Teams through Positive Culture and Effective Feedback

  • : Online

Engaging Teams through Positive Culture and Effective Feedback is a 3-hour, interactive workshop. This educational activity gives participants an opportunity to develop their skills by practising strategies for establishing and maintaining effective workplace relationships with all team members and improving overall team performance. The focus for achieving this is on:
• exploring strategies to build and maintain a positive and inclusive team culture
• using appropriate methods for delivering constructive feedback.

Relevance to General Practice

MDA National members frequently request education resources on topics relating to working in teams. Employment issues were in the top ten reasons members called for advice during the 2018–19 financial year.[1] A study of the occurrence of bullying in the Australian medical workforce found that of the responding GPs, 21% indicated experiencing bullying.[2] The Medicine in Australia: Balancing Employment & Life survey showed that over a year, 30% of GPs and GP registrars reported experiencing verbal or written aggression.[3] Between 2013 and 2017, 12 complaints relating to doctors’ behaviour were referred to the AHPRA performance and professional standards panel. Effective education for managing staff performance includes practise using positive communication and feedback.[4]
