Travel medicine is never static, it is an ongoing learning process facilitated by members communicating between clinics. However, the TCA training workshops are the associations, main education opportunity- to present workshops, case studies in an open, interactive environment, not afforded by email. They are also given the opportunity to reinforce their ability to deliver vaccines and travel health advice in a safe and consistent mannerRelevance to General Practice
This activity is part of an ongoing requirement for quality assurance for all TCA members.
According to the International Society of Travel Medicine and the third edition of the Manual of Travel Health the demand for skills in travel medicine is a direct result of the world becoming smaller and more accessible. Over the decade to June 2014, the number of annual short-term resident departures from Australia more than doubled, from 3.9 million to 8.9 million per year .
