Relevance to General Practice

RACGP requirement for GPs to complete a CPR course in 2017-2016 QI&CPD triennium. 
RACGP’s Standards for general practices (4th edition) state that GPs must be ‘suitably qualified and trained and maintain the necessary knowledge and skills to provide good clinical care and recommends non-clinical staff complete a CPR course. 
Aust Resuscitation Council recommend CPR be updated annually. 
GP feedback to previous CPD activity recommend frequent on-going CPR training to maintain skills.

Learning outcomes
  • Demonstrate systematic approach (DRS ABCD) to the collapsed patient
  • Demonstrate basic airway management techniques
  • Perform CPR and apply an AED on a manikin
