76231 - The IQP Surgical Skin Workshop

This half day workshop has been specifically designed for the General Practitioner who has a keen interest and wishes to improve their knowledge in skin pathology, learn a variety of best practice excision techniques to use, discover a greater insight into dermoscopy and learn better work flow processes which will assist in the busy practice setting. Pathology input regarding interpretation and advice will be a focus. Numbers are limited to 5 practitioners and this will be by invitation only.

Relevance to General Practice

Australia has the highest skin cancer incidence rate in the world with approximately 2 in 3 Australians will be diagnosed with skin cancer before the age of 70. With these statistics in mind, GP's will see over 1 million patient consultations per year regarding skin cancer. It is therefor imperative for GPs to be up to date with current advancements in surgical techniques, dermoscopy and treatment options regarding both melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancers.

Learning outcomes
  • Dr's will become confident in the identification, diagnoses, use of excision techniques in regards to all forms of skin lesions in the practice setting
  • Identify treatment options of non-melanoma skin cancer
  • Ideas to implement a strategy in your practice regarding work flow and cover issues related to melanoma screening of patients
