Online interactive module on breastfeeding

Relevance to General Practice

The RACGP acknowledges that the ‘general practice management of women’s health involves a holistic patient centered approach to the physical, mental and emotional health of women, their families, and their relationships. Women’s health needs to be understood in the context of their psychosocial and cultural environment’ (RACGP 2011).

It is Australian GPs responsibility to promote breastfeeding as the ideal infant feeding method. Breast milk provides the best start for infants and carries many health benefits for the baby and the mother. The Breastfeeding module involves a holistic patient-centered approach to the women who are breastfeeding.
