85729 - How to Treat quiz: Bronchiolitis

  • : Online
Relevance to General Practice

Acute viral bronchiolitis is a common childhood illness, with at least 20% of the annual birth cohort requiring medical attention in the first year of life. Definitions vary by country, with epidemiological implications. In Australia, we usually consider a diagnosis of bronchiolitis in a child under 12 months of age. From 12-24 months, bronchiolitis still occurs, but there is greater overlap with other diagnoses such as asthma, viral-induced wheeze and viral pneumonitis.
