90688 - Professional Certificate of Aesthetic Medicine
This is a two day workshop which provide knowledge and skills to the GP to be able to assess, formulate and execute aesthetic treatments for their patients skin in relation to common dermatological conditions. This certificate course which combines didactic lectures and practical sessions in a small group setting. The certificate course will provide the clinician with a range of skills at an introductory level.Relevance to General Practice
According to the 2010 BEACH report 14.8 of every 100 patient encounters relate to the skin. (http://www.aihw.gov.au/WorkArea/DownloadAsset.aspx?id=6442472722 page 46), and the number of skin problems managed is 16.5 per 100 patient encounters (page 54). On average 1 in 6 patients seen by a GP will present with a skin condition and as such is a commonly seen condition. Found that, the overall supply of dermatologists is inadequate and that in particular shortages exist in rural areas and some non-capital city urban areas.
